Celebrate North Texas Giving Day!

September 19, celebrate North Texas Giving Day by donating to For the Love of the Lake.

For the Love of the Lake (FTLOTL) is dedicated to the care and enhancement of White Rock Lake Park as an urban oasis. Their focus is on supporting programs to preserve and enhance White Rock Lake Park. They organize regular clean-up activities, tree planting events, and raise money needed to fund improvements to White Rock Lake Park.

Reforestation around the lake is particularly critical following June’s disastrous wind storm, which destroyed or damaged hundreds of trees. It costs about $500 for the irrigation system to nourish each new tree. Trees that provide homes for birds and critters, and a lifetime of beauty for us. When you donate to For the Love of the Lake, every dollar helps provide cleanup supplies, education, water testing supplies, and volunteer coordination for hundreds of people each year!

For the Love of the Lake’s Needs:

Located in the heart of Dallas, White Rock Lake is an urban oasis twice the size of New York City’s Central Park. It is FTLOTL’s goal to engage the community in maintaining White Rock Lake Park for the enjoyment of future generations. They are expanding our programs with a focus on the four Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and ROT)! They also provide learning opportunities for individuals and businesses, helping them incorporate these concepts into their daily activities.

FTLOTL is also exploring opportunities for replacing the aging recycling containers at the park, improving the retaining devices for tributaries that feed into White Rock Lake, and continuing to increase hands-on opportunities like the flagship Shoreline Spruce Up program. Each of these elements will help maintain White Rock Lake for children, pets, and wildlife now and into the future. For the Love of the Lake is currently seeking volunteers to help with marketing our programs through social media and email campaigns, and seeking tech-savvy volunteers to help maintain our website.
