Run in the New Year at White Rock Lake
What a better way to start your New Year off right than with a 9.5 mile fundraiser run around White Rock Lake to benefit MarathonKids.org to help beat childhood obesity.
The 13th Annual Dallas Loop-the-Lake Run will begin at 7:00am on December 31, 2016. The Dallas Loop-the-Lake Foundation is setting a goal this year in hopes of having over 400 participants and hoping to raise $12,000 for Marathon Kids. So bring your friends and family to share in the fun. There will be prizes, food, drinks, and of course, running!
Your participation in this years Loop-the-Lake run will benefit Marathon Kids, and organization whose mission it is to get kids moving. They are a not for profit group that works with the local Dallas school districts and other Texas communities. Their mission:
We help any adult discover their inner Coach and any kid unlock their inner athlete by starting or joining a Marathon Kids running club.
We provide the training, rewards, tools & resources for you to start and build sustainable running clubs in your community.
The annual Dallas Loop-the-Lake New Year’s Eve fundraising run first started in 2004. The Loop-the-Lake Foundation is a group of local Dallas runners who love running and hosting this event each year for a great cause. Since 2004, the Foundation has raised over $61,000 to support Marathon Kids.
This is a great way to support an extremely important cause. Childhood obesity affects over 9 million children ages 6-19. It is the leading cause of Type II Diabetes in children and later, adults. Obesity in children increases their chances of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, asthma and liver disease, to name a few. This is a serious epidemic that is affecting our children and they need our support more than ever.
Participation is free, but donations are generously accepted. Luke’s Lock surprises and gift cards will be a part of your goodie bag with a donation. Be sure to show up early and ready for a fun run around White Rock Lake.
The event will start at this years sponsor, The Lot, at 7530 East Grand (at Gaston). See map below.
This is a great way to get a jump on those New Year’s resolution health and charity goals!
